Lost Fate - AR Board Game
Applications

My Role
I was responsible for the overall game concept and world-building, leading character design and visual direction while shaping the narrative structure and atmosphere. I designed the AR interaction and experience flow, created and animated 3D assets, and developed supporting visuals including poster and packaging design to ensure a cohesive and immersive experience.

Project Overview
Lost Fate is a fantasy-themed AR board game mini project that blends physical gameplay with digital storytelling. The experience uses mobile AR to bring characters, environments, and narrative elements to life, creating an immersive and interactive tabletop experience.
Concept & Inspiration
Lost Fate is set in a fantasy world shaped by destiny, choice, and consequence.
I was inspired by classic fantasy RPGs, tabletop games, and interactive storytelling, aiming to create a world where players feel emotionally connected to both the characters and the unfolding story.
Key Features
-
AR character visualization triggered by physical game elements
-
Story-driven gameplay with branching paths
-
Fantasy-themed UI and visual language
-
Blending physical and digital interactions for deeper engagement
Stages
Lost Fate features five elemental 3D stages, Wood, Water, Fire, Metal, and Earth. When the physical game board is scanned, the corresponding 3D stage appears in AR, transforming the tabletop into an immersive environment. Each stage was fully built in 3D and documented through material, render, solid, and wireframe views, showcasing both the visual design and the underlying technical structure optimized for AR presentation.

Characters

Lost Fate includes five uniquely designed characters, each with a distinct visual style, background story, and custom voice. I created 2D character illustrations that were applied to physical character cards, which serve as AR triggers. When a character card is scanned, the corresponding 3D character appears and animates in AR, accompanied by its own voice, bringing the character’s personality and narrative to life through a seamless blend of illustration, 3D modeling, motion, and sound.
Other Game Elemenets

In addition to stages and characters, Lost Fate includes supporting game assets such as character cards, function cards, a tri-fold brochure, a poster, and the game board. All elements were designed with a consistent fantasy visual language to strengthen world-building and gameplay clarity. The character cards feature illustrated portraits and function as AR triggers, while function cards explain game mechanics and player actions. The game board acts as the central surface for scanning and gameplay, and the poster and tri-fold brochure were created as promotional materials to introduce the game’s concept, narrative, and visual style.
